Coaching Services
What is coaching?

Coaching is essentially about establishing a professional partnership between a coach and a coachee that enables and supports a coachee to clarify their needs, goals and preferred outcomes, and to work together towards achieving these. Coaching is focused on the present, as well as on supporting the coachee to move forward.

If you answer ‘yes’ to any, or a combination, of the questions below, then coaching might be beneficial to you.

Psychologists as coaches

There are many reasons why working with a coach who is also a psychologist may be beneficial to you. Psychologists study for six years to understand human behaviour, personality, and the factors that contribute to change. As part of their training, they develop a range of models, tools and strategies they can offer to people who would like support to achieve their personal and/or professional goals or to develop particular capabilities or skills.

Psychologists are trained to identify what might be blocking a person from achieving what’s important to them. If they require support to address particular psychological or emotional issues, then this support can be provided. Psychologists are guided by their professional Code of Ethics, ensuring that each person is treated respectfully and competently throughout the process. Psychologists are expected to participate in ongoing professional development activities to ensure their knowledge and skills remain current.

Charles Thermos has provided coaching support to executives, managers and other professionals, across a number of sectors and organisations, including health, education and the corporate world.

Benefits of working with a coach:
  • enhance self-awareness and awareness of others
  • increase self-confidence
  • provide support to achieve what’s important to you
  • provide focus, structure and support for moving forward
  • strengthen personal and professional capabilities and resources
  • encourage and support reasonable risk-taking

Coaching recognises that
each person is unique.

Coaching structure and options

Transformative Psychology Centre’s coaching programs typically follow a five-phase process, including:

(1) an assessment phase

(2) a goal clarification and planning phase

(3) ‘the work’ or implementation phase

(4) a review and evaluation phase

(5) a follow-up phase

  • Support and feedback are provided throughout the coaching process
  • Sessions can be weekly, every 2-3 weeks or monthly. Preferred timeframes and frequency of sessions are determined by the coachee with guidance from their coach
  • Sessions are generally for 60 or 90 minutes, depending on the coachee's preference
  • Coaching services can be delivered face-to-face, by telephone, or at the coachee’s workplace (a travel fee will apply)
